Indian Hockey Federation has roped in Mahendra Singh Dhoni to promote hockey in India. In the third and final T-20 match between India and New Zealand that will be played at Thiruvananthapuram, Dhoni will come to bat with a hockey stick in hand instead of his favorite willow. This is also to celebrate the victory of women hockey team in Asia Cup. Mr N.N Nandan, official spokesperson of IHF confirmed this news. Talking to Falsepost he said, “We all have seen how Dhoni batted in the last T20 match at Rajkot. It will not make much of a difference if he has a bat or hockey stick in hand. We approached BCCI and Dhoni with the proposal and they happily agreed.”
Virat Kohli commenting on this development said, “Clearly, New Zealand doesn’t want to get Dhoni out. Glenn Phillips caught the ball that I edged and also stumped me at the same time. But, when Dhoni lofted the ball, New Zealand players were more than happy to drop it. This idea of making him bat with a hockey stick was a saving grace. I am hopeful that stick will help him walk back to pavilion early.”
We reached out to Dhoni to understand his take on the matter. Dhoni said “Cricket is becoming very competitive these days. These guys are already looking for my replacement and I know the reason why Dinesh Karthik is suddenly back in the team. I am trying to explore hockey as an alternate career option. This will be a good platform to showcase my hockey skills to selectors. ”
Dhoni fans are very excited with this new avatar of Dhoni and are eagerly waiting for the match. Dhoni haters have already started demanding Dhoni’s retirement from hockey. FalsePost wishes Dhoni all the best!
